In my experience, project management has always been a key component in running a successful team. What is most important is that everyone on the team follows procedure. A crude system with everyone on the team following the same procedure is more efficient than a complex system with many options with no one following the same procedures.
It is with this thought in mind that we took our time in creating a project management tool as a team. We had numerous meetings and wish lists, and compiled them all in a Google doc and made comments and adjustments. We then had one of our student workers create an Adobe XD document and had meetings to discuss the pros and cons of each setup.
